"NIGGER."Let's take a moment to look at that word
And trace it back to it's roots,
When it started out as a fossil in the brain
And then it grew.
Back when human enslavement was legal.
It's a fascination how that word
Gave us a horrible sensation
When it became everyone's name.
Now it continues to spread like an infestation,
Reaching every generation.
People use it show signs of affection,
When it's clearly a degradation.
Hearing that word every time
Sends me a blast from the past.
Slaves fought for their lives
To become "FREE AT LAST".
They worked hard to learn to read and write
Because they wasn't gaining the
Skills and knowledge from the Whites.
They fought for respect and the right to have a name.
That very "N" word is what kept them bonded
In the game is whips, chains and pains,
And captivity of the brain.
Now, when they gained courage and heart
To attempt to destroy what was
Tearing them apart,
They discarded of that word,
And every other force that kept them
Lured in a world where they cease to exist.
Fast forward through the years and generations
To the present day.
The nightmare still lives.
It hasn't gone away.
We think we are free.
We just survive day-by-day.
And it all comes from the
Mindset we continue to keep.
We refuse to stray away.
Maybe one day we will
Open our eyes and we will see
A brand new day.
